On Sunday March 24th, some members of the AFC ’97 & & ’96 boys teams played in two futsal friendly matches with Ambassadors Pittsburgh at Destiny Church of Twinsburg. The boys played to a 6-6 tie in the first match and a 8-8 tie in the second match. It was a great day of fun and fellowship between the two teams. Ambassadors Pittsburgh has been working with inner-city youth for the past few years and looks forward to the developing partnership between their teams & the Cleveland-based club.

Ambassadors FC graduate, Matt Horth, recently signed on with the New England Revolution of the MLS. Horth, who had been playing professionally for the Atlanta Silverbacks, becomes the second AFC alumni currently in the MLS, joining Martin Rennie, the head coach for the Vancouver Whitecaps.

Following an eight-goal, one assist rookie season, Horth scored 10 goals and added one assist last year for the Silverbacks.

“We’re pleased to add a young forward in Matt to the roster,” Revolution General Manager Michael Burns said. “He is a talented young player who has had a strong record of scoring goals in the NASL. We believe he has the potential to take the next step and do well for our club.”

Jenna Geier and Lexi Neal of the Ambassadors FC 98G team were recently selected to attend the id2 (National Identification) Camp in Portland, Connecticut. Out of the 56 players selected for the National Pool only three were from Ohio and our very own Jenna & Lexi were selected as two of them. Jenna (left back) & Lexi (defensive midfielder) have represented Ambassadors for over 5 years and have played over 350 games between them, winning 12 tournaments/leagues and finishing as finalists in 7.

id2 is a prestigious identification program designed to congregate the best players across the United States and is run by US Club Soccer & sponsored by Nike.

Currently the Ambassadors FC 98G team are ranked #1 in Ohio North:

Without Lexi & Jenna the team had a tournament in Cincinnati in which the team finished as finalists and scored 9 goals in 4 games, winning their group.
